The Beginning of History - 2023
Everything started with Astana Physics Battles 2023. A small team of enthusiasts organized the first tournament in the capital of Kazakhstan. 505 participants from 6 countries showed that there was a huge demand for quality physics competitions in the region.
There were many mistakes, many shortcomings. Our team was upset, but didn't give up. The very next day we started working on the mistakes and planning something bigger.
«The APhB team did a great job. Not every company can organize an event of this scale. I think everything went perfectly. Congratulations on the successful Physics Battles!»

2024 Breakthrough
We challenged ourselves to hold the tournament for a whole week at Satbayev University. For the first time in Central Asian history, APhB and National Chemical Battles were held simultaneously.
Over 1000 participants from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Belarus. For the first time, foreign teams arrived - from SUNC MSU and the official team of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
«APhB are organizers who are pleasant to work with: clear communication, high standards of academic content and attention to participants. We are happy to support the development of the olympiad movement»

2025 Legacy
After the 2024 breakthrough, the heart of the organizing committee scattered to universities across the world, and the tournament's future was uncertain. But a new team of enthusiasts took up the APhB legacy, preserved its past glory and scaled the project, merging APhB with the Almaty Math Battles and the National Chemical Battles, breaking a new record for participants and countries.
The new team brought a fresh spirit of enthusiasm, not without its mistakes. In 2026, success must be reinforced with a completely new regulation and a more thoughtful Physics Battles format.
«For us, as a new school, helping promote APhB was an experiment: we wanted to see how such large events are organized. But the experiment turned out to be more than successful. We are immensely grateful to the APhB team for this experience and to this day we proudly tell everyone about their enthusiasm and responsibility!»
People Who Make Miracles
Over two years, more than 250 problems were created by a team of the best olympiad participants from Kazakhstan, Russia, and beyond: students from MIT, Caltech, Williams College, Notre Dame, Grinnell College, NYU, HKUST, CityU, KAIST, Nazarbayev University, and MIPT. Among them are former and current jury members and problem setters for the All-Russian School Olympiad, Republican Olympiad of Kazakhstan, International Zhautykov Olympiad, LFI Olympiad, and others!
Jury from 6 cities worked 12 hours a day. Volunteers came from all over the country and even from Tashkent - they met at the airport, took hiking trips to Butakovsky waterfall, and stayed on duty in dormitories at night.
Hundreds of hours of volunteer work, sleepless nights - all to give the participants an unforgettable experience.

More Than a Tournament
APhB is not just physics. During tournaments we had many entertainments, workshops, and networking events. These are trips to the Kasteyev Museum and to Butakovsky waterfall in the Zailiysky Alatau mountains, lectures by Nazarbayev University professors, guitar evenings, football tournaments, and much more!
These are movie nights, new friends from different countries, and memories for life. One participant even went hiking in flip-flops - just didn't know there would be a hike!
